It's been awhile

Wow... So how has everyone been?? It sure has been some time since I blogged! I honestly didn't think I'd start blogging again. I kind of lost interest back  in January and didn't have much intentions on returning. I would occasionally visit some of the blogs I follow but then life happened. I met a boy and began working full time and well, I didn't make time to blog. But lately I've missed it! Plus I've gone through sooo many life changes since my last post I definitely wanna catch everyone up. So be looking for more posts soon and a complete blog makeover!

2 Years Gone- NEVER Forgotten

Tuesday was very bittersweet. It marked 2 years ago to the  day, the most important person in my entire world was called home. God had a much better place for her to spend her days. It was beyond hard to grasp the fact that I would never see her face again (in person that is); never hear her blasting Whitney Houston [RIP!!] or gospel music at the crack of dawn; wouldn't have her next to me week after week as we stayed up to watch Criminal Minds or CSI: NY. She's no longer here to laugh with or to fight over the phone when we both wanted to talk to my brother's daughter. Never again would I get to hear the words "I love you Nicole".

I will admit that I'm in much more of a positive place than I was last year and the year before. I'm gotten closer to God and I know that He does everything with a purpose. He has already mapped out the plan for my life. Although I've had a great amount of anxiety the last few days I think as the days pass I'll be better. The road of grieving and learning to live without my mother will indeed be a long one, but with God I know I will be able to handle it.

PSALM 30:5 -
"For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime, weaping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning."

{Sunday Social}

Hello ladies and Happy Sunday!! It's my hope that you all are doing well! During December I was totally slacking on my posts due to my surgery. I'm getting back into full swing now! If you're not familiar with the Sunday Social link-up -- get with it!!!

Sunday Social

This weeks questions
1. Do you plan to change any of your eating habits in the new year? No. I changed my eating habits drastically back in 2011 and I've done pretty well sticking to those good habits. In 2013 I simply want to improve the healthy path I am currently on; after all it wont hurt to add more/new fruits and veggies to my diet!

2. Any workout tips to get us back in shape after the Holidays? Oh gosh, I haven't worked out in months! I definitely want to get back into walking more and take a few yoga or zumba classes this year. Zumba is super fun and doubles as a great workout!!

3. Favorite thing you did over the Holidays? Didn't get depressed?.... In years past I would always get so sad and emotional during December, and more so now that my mom has passed. However,  this year I was okay. Although I'm away from all my family and I stay inside on Christmas Say [watched the Lakers game though!] i was really content with how things were. That's all due to God's grace!

4. What is something you hope that you accomplish in 2013 that you did not in 2012?
See more of what Seattle has to offer. Become more social with co-workers and church friends. I feel like after 5 months I'm getting much more adjusted with living in Seattle and now is the perfect time to  mingle with people and see all that I can!

5. Name 3 things happening this year you are excited about and why:
I don't have too many any plans for the rest of the year mapped out  yet, but here are some things I'd like to do this year.

1. Spend a weekend with my Aunt in Mississippi
2. Visit my cousin and her soon-to-be-born baby girl in Atlanta
3. Do a Breast Cancer walk/run!

if you join the link-up, let me know and I'll check out your post!!

Until next time....

Friday's Letters

I've seen these types of posts on tons of blogs that I read and decided to give it a try.=)

Photobucket

Dear 2012, you sure were filled with A LOT of ups and downs, but thanks for all the lessons; I paid attention!

Dear NYE,  I truly enjoyed the fireworks display. However. hunting for food at 2am not so much fun =(

Dear New Job,  I love you! I love knowing that I'm finally putting my degree to good use and get to spend my day with a bunch of adorable, stubborn, snooty noised toddler and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Dear Seattle Winter,  Although I really appreciated the snow 2 weeks ago, I do not like you! Nor do I like the fact that it was 28 degrees the other morning as I ventured off to my new job...

Dear potential "boo",  ::sigh:: I sure hope this thing works out because I'm actually starting to like you. =)

Dear Pinterest, I promise we will get a lot more acquainted this year. I WILL tackle many of those yummy recipes I see every time I log on.

Dear 2013 I'm ready for whatever you throw my way! BRING IT!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Hello ladies! I surly hope you all had a fantastic NYE!

I usually stay inside with friends and watch the countdown specials. That's been my personal tradition since I was like  13 LOL. This year however, I had plans. I met up with a friend and we watched the fireworks display at the Seattle Space Needle then drove around looking for food {which was no easy task!]. All in all my NYE was amazing and I'm excited for the year ahead.

I do not plan on making resolutions and feeling pressured to accomplish things when life gets in the way. So I've decided to slowly work on things about myself that i KNOW need changing. With that being said some of the area I shall try to improve this year include:
  • Building a closer relationship to God - So far I feel as though I've been doing better. Reading my bible for understanding not just when the minister reads a scripture on Sundays. I'm in the works of getting involved at the church I've been attending, helping with the youth, hanging out with the young adults, making friends
  • FINISH reading books once I start them- I have a HORRIBLE habit of getting a book, start reading it and for whatever reason I get bored with the book and never finish! Its kinda sad that my attention span is so short sometimes.
  • Wear heels!! - A lot of the time I get stuck in a comfort zone of work uniform and flat shoes. But I want/need to dress more. Plus with it being so cold in Seattle, boots/heels/wedges will keep my feet a lot warmer than flats!
** Now for the fun part! **

Below I've added the Fireworks show from NYE! I loves it!! Talk with you ladies soon!
{ps- please disregard the random conversation in the background between myself and my friend... hahaha}

New Movies of 2013

Nothing says a new year like new movies!! With 2013 right around the corner a slew of new movies are awaiting!!!

1/4/13- TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D
I'm sure yall know i LOVE scary movies!!!! The Texas Chainsaw series is no exception! From the previews it seems as though this film is a tad bit different from the previous films. Rather than an actual remake a group of kids go in search of one girl's grandmothers old stomping grounds yet they have no idea what they are getting themselves into! As an added bonus- Trey Songz is in the film as well =)

1/18/13 - BROKEN CITY
Who doesn't love Mark Wahlberg? *crickets* ..... EXACTLY! lol This man can do no wrong when it comes to acting [except for maybe The Other Guys.... ] I've been a fan of Mark's movies for a loooooong time now and in most cases he doesn't disappoint!

2/8/13 - SIDE EFFECTS
i actually just saw this trailer while I was searching for the Texas Chainsaw trailer. It seems very interesting! And Channing Tatum is in it! He's been doing A LOT of movies lately! His career is surely on the up and up. I've been a fan of Channing since Step Up so I'm excited for all of his new work and this film looks promising! Be sure to check it out ladies!

Are you ladies excited about any other new movie releases next year?

Checking In

Hello ladies! How are you all doing?? Just wanted to quickly drop in and let you all know I'm recovering fine from my eye surgery. I'm slowly regaining sight in my eye and can't wait to get back t work! Not that I totally mind sitting at home watching Investigation Discovery all day... but I still can't see clearly lol. So I mainly listen to TV. Can't wait my glasses because my left eye got stronger so the prescription isn't accurate and basically the inconsistency makes my head hurt- no bueno!

All in all I'm blessed and thankful to God for that! Hope you ladies have an awesome rest of your week!! =)

Short Hiatus Due To Surgery

Hello ladies!

First off I want to thanlk all of you that entered the giveaway!! I will be choocing a winner soon I have not forgotten. However the purpose of this post is to let you ladies know I will not be posting for roughly 2 weeks because I need to have eye surgery and the one working eye I have isn't too stong and I don't want to strain it trying to blog (not tat I dont love to blog... you ladies get what I mean).

I'm having surgury becase the retina in my right eye detached (its not painful) and right now I can not see anything thru my right eye :( the worsrt part about that is my right eye was my stronger eye of the two. No I'm not completely blind buttt I'm close to it. I was completely freaked out when the eye doc told me mainly because the same thind happened with my left eye as a baby due to me being a prematre birth.

All in all I'm calm now. I know God will fix the issue and restore my vision. So with that being said I will talk with u ladies some time after my surgury. Also be expecting a blog sale soon (the surgery bill can't pay itself lol)

And as promised once I regain full vision I will ebe choosing a winner for the giveaway!

** please disregard all spelling errors; blogger won't let me spell check.

ENJOY THE REST OF YOUR WEEK

10 Day You Challenge - 2 Songs

We're getting close to the end of the 10-Day You Challenge. This week's topic is 2 Songs. I'm not even sure if I can single out merely 2 songs and label them as my all time favorites. On any given occasion you can find me with my earplugs in and my ipod on! I never leave home without it!

BlogLoveTherapy

1) Do Ya Thing - Rihanna -- this song always makes me want to start dancing
regardless of were I'm at

2) No Air - Jordin Sparks ft/ Chris Brown -- by far one of my favorite duets EVER!!!
Whenever I start to hear this song I start belting out the words! I love it that much!

Any Trey Songz Fans Out There??

Not sure if you ladies know this or not buuttt I absolutely adore Trey Songz! Been a fan of his since wayyyyy back in 2005! So back in August or September Trey put out a new album [Chapter V] and as a result he's been touring for the last month. His show tonight, stops in Los Angeles and to help his Angels With Heart Foundation Xumanii.com is going to broadcast the concert live online for everyone to see(for only $1.99)! I'm super excited about this because his tour doesn't make a stop in Seattle so now I'll have a chance to check it out. BUT the point of this post is to inform you ladies of the concert and the good cause the money is going towards.

Angels with Heart foundation is a foundation within Trey's fan club "Trey's Angels". The purpose is to encourage his fans/Angels and others to give back to those in need because there is always someone is a worse off situation than yourself. So if you're a fan of his music or just want to help out towards a good cause, purchase a ticket for only $2! Besides how often can you see a full concert for only TWO DOLLARS??!! Don't miss out!

It's Starting To Feel Like Christmas

On Friday, Seattle had its annual Thanksgiving parade in the morning and Christmas Tree lighting that evening. Since I didn't have to work yesterday I headed downtown to check out the festivities! I had taken a few pictures of both the parade and tree lighting buuttt when I updated my phone earlier all of the pictures on my phone deleted. And i mean ALL [250+] *tears* Luckily I took the video of the tree lighting with my Flip camera. So enjoy the video below!

Has your town had any special celebrations to gear up for Christmas??

The End of the Twilight Era

The end is near... the end of Twilight that is. Tonight/tomorrow the final installment of the Twilight films hits theaters! I'm excited and saddened at the same time. I became a fan wayyy back in 2009; I've seen all 4 movies thus far and read all 4 books. I hate to see it end, but I've been hearing the last film has scene that don't correlate to the book which should be exciting to see! Below I've posted the trailers for the first 4 films for the few of you who may be clueless to the epic-ness that is Twilight! =)

TWILIGHT

Hind sight is always 20/20. When I first saw this film it was on dvd and I thought it was hilarious. Now, I still think its hilarious but I feel the acting is sooo cheesy!

NEW MOON

this was my favorite book in the series; possibly because I'm Team Jacob... but it really was a good book. It introduced a whole new group of 'mythical creatures'. After reading the first book I was already rooting for Jake, so to find out he turns into damn wolf; how could I not love the wolf pack?

ECLIPSE

this was probably my 2nd book. I love how the movies put Jake vs Edward, I love the tent and the fight training scenes.

BREAKING DAWN - PART 1

The only thing I have to say about the book itself is this: That mess was LONG as hell! I literally hated reading it..... ahhhhhhh ahhhhhhh... I purposely spent 2 weeks on that book alone cause it started to annoy me. But I will admit [bias wolf fan comment approaching] I liked "Book 2" ;) If you've read the BD you totally know what I mean. If you didn't read the book.. basically Breaking Dawn (book) is broken into 3 sections: Book 1, Book 2, and Book 3. Books 1 & 3 and from Bella's POV but Book 2 is all from Jacob's POV! I'm seriously hoping that they add some of Jake's perspective into BD2... I might be slightly will be disappointed if at some point during BD2 the scenes aren't begin narrated by Jake! It's only fair people!

BREAKING DAWN - PART 2

I'm sad to see the end of the series BUT I'm super excited to see how to bring it to an end! I have VERY high expectations for this film!

10 Day You Challenge - 3 Movies

As you ladies know I've been doing the 10 Day You Challenge for the last few weeks. This weeks challenge is 3 movies. If you know me, then you know I LOVE movies! Below are 3 of the many movies that I absolutely adore!!!

BlogLoveTherapy

1. Saw series - I love horror movies and this series! I have all 7 films on dvd. Put all the guts gore aside, the message of the movies is a good one. Cherish the life you are given, don't take it for granted.

2. Princess & The Frog- When this movie came out on dvd my mom and I watched it together and loved it. Ultimately I convinced my sister-in-law to get it for my-then- 2 year old niece. Now at 4, my niece LOVEEEES it still!

apparently I make this same faceat people unknowingly... *shrug*

3. The Hangover - can we say HILARIOUS??? Just thinking about it makes me want to burst out laughing! lol
